A mattress is like having a life-long friend. And because we have so much trust in ours, we give all our Emma mattresses a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
All our mattresses are designed to be ergonomic - meaning they ensure spinal alignment, so you can be sure every mattress you buy doesn't cause orthopedic issues. Every one of our best sellers have been thoroughly tested by and won awards from independent consumer associations across Europe in no small part because of this. Between the models, we've worked to deliver progressively more comfort, support, and thermal regulation by the addition of more innovative materials. On top of these: all our mattresses are designed to be motion isolating, super easy to clean with removable covers, and made with materials certified to be safe even for babies. If you're still unsure, get in touch with our Emma Sleep Experts, who will be happy to help you find the right sleep system for you.
Like all materials, foams and innersprings have their own strengths. Foams are more pressure-relieving. If you're a side sleeper and get the feeling that your hands fall asleep, a foam mattress is probably the better solution for you.
Innersprings are usually a little firmer and therefore give a little more support. However, the biggest advantage of the innerspring core is that it's more ventilated. If you sweat a lot or live in a very humid climate, the spring core is worth considering.
This depends on your body type, general sleeping position, and type of pain you're experiencing. We can't cover all situations, but can provide some general guidance:
Those experiencing discomfort or pain from pressure points (usually when some part of your body gets pressed or pinched when they're supporting too much weight) will usually benefit from moving to a softer mattress. Side sleepers on very firm mattresses can often have their arms and shoulders pinched between their body and the mattress. Any of our taller 25cm mattresses should help. While they're softer, these mattresses are still considered 'medium' in firmness, and have been tested for great spinal alignment, for those concerned about overly saggy soft mattresses.
Those experiencing back pain from a lack of spinal alignment (usually because a mattress is too soft and starts to sag in the hip area), will often benefit from using something more supportive - best provided by one of our hybrid spring mattresses. This issue happens more frequently to people who are heavier, are older (and may have weaker back muscles), or have simply slept in very old deformed mattresses for too long. They will benefit well from any of our Hybrid spring mattresses to avoid any pressure point problems mentioned in the prior paragraph.

All our mattresses are designed to ensure great spinal alignment at multiple sleeping positions for different body types. We mainly do these through body zones in the mattress that sink differently depending on the part they support, regardless of whether it's an all-foam or hybrid spring mattress. For example, if you press down on the areas for your shoulders, these will sink in more vs the area for your lower back - essentially following the shape of your spine.
However, if you are concerned about overall support, we suggest going for a Hybrid spring mattress. Steel springs are generally more durable and able to support more weight overall vs even the most resilient foams. Their higher bounciness also ensures a more responsive feel, allowing you to roll around or get up from bed much more easily.
We rely on high-performance materials for our mattresses. In our state-of-the-art test lab in Frankfurt, Germany, we test the durability of our mattresses to ensure very little deformation (usually less than 5% change in height) after a period of 10 years. This ensures you get the same comfort and support throughout the whole expected life of the mattress.
Our normal core body temperature is 37°C but the core lowers its temperature by up to 1.5°C during the night as our body transitions to sleep. Maintaining this sleep temperature is crucial - going too warm or too cold can often impact sleep quality and even wake you up entirely.
While cold sleep is easily resolved with a blanket or duvet, overheating and sweating in bed is tougher to crack.
Our special graphite foam technology helps regulate optimal sleep temperature through excess heat dissipation. It is made with a special hyper-breathable foam for improved air circulation and infused with heat conducting graphite that ensures heat is always transferred away from your body.
Moreover, the foam is specially designed to be moisture wicking, ensuring any sweat doesn't pool underneath you, and is instead drawn away and evaporated.
Our Emma mattresses are cleverly packaged in an easy-to-move cardboard box. We use a special vacuuming process to gently compress and roll your mattress so that even the largest mattress can fit inside a box. This space-saving method allows you to move it around your home more easily upon delivery, is kinder to the environment, and takes up less space on our delivery trucks - allowing more efficient and faster transport to you!
